honeymoon itinerary

i thoroughly reject winter.  i do not accept it anymore.  i live in a mediterranean paradise now, constructed by my imagination running wild with our honeymoon plans.  NOTHING helps the dreariness like thinking about steve and i's upcoming trip to greece.  now that we've officialized a few of our plans the excitement is a little tough to contain.  here's a look at our upcoming trip!

athens (9/16-9/18)
9/15-9/16 fly chicago to athens

we will be spending 2 nights in athens at the airotel parthenon, which is a literal stone's throw away from the acropolis.  we plan to spend most of our time checking out the ruins and recovering from jet lag before heading to....

santorini (9/18-9/22)
our first two nights on santorini island will be spent at the antonia hotel in thira
and our second two nights will be spent at the golden sunset villas in oia (the one up top with the windmill).

we will be taking a ferry on the aegean from athens to santorini island.  we plan to do what it sounds like pretty much everybody does on santorini: wander black sand beaches, eat a lot of homemade greek food, drink plenty of wine, and soak up the natural beauty and laid back experience of being there.  our hotel in oia has one of the most unobstructed, western (ahem sunset) facing views of the famous santorini caldera.  and i can already envision the excessively photo-heavy posts i'll be blogging after we wander through the villages, harbors, museums, and ruins.

mykonos (9/22-9/25)
the evening of our final day on santorini we will be taking the brief ferry ride over to the island of mykonos
we will be staying at the hotel lithos by spryos and flora.

the final three nights of our honeymoon we will be on the island of mykonos.  mykonos is known for their beautiful beaches, exciting and eccentric night life, and their wealthy, often famous clientele.

mykonos's most popular attraction, however, and the part i personally am the most excited about is the island of delos, which is an accessible day trip and one of the most important mythological, historical, and archaeological sites in greece.  when we're not busy playing junior archaeologists and history geeks you can bet i'll be getting my tan on and dancing as much as my tourist-trekked feet will allow.

on our final day we will be flying straight from mykonos to the athens airport to catch our flight back to the states.  there you have it!  we sure are stoked to the nth degree.  let's hurry up and get married already!
