sarah's wedding: photo theft edition

sibling photobomb!
the great thing about facebook is i can still have a blog even when i don't take all the pictures!  thanks to my mom, my brother's partner david, and college friend teresa for documenting all the fun!

i'll probably continue with wedding photo overkill once my sister's friend and photographer, oliver, gets her some digital images.  such a good day to remember, it's definitely worth the excess of pictures!

my gals

so one of the things about planning a wedding, which i'm pretty sure was single-handedly invented by the collective internet consciousness known as pinterest, is engineering some new, creative, ridonkulous way to ask your girlfriends to be in the wedding party.

feeling that a boxed gift set of ugly, decorative, oversized diamonds was a bit over-doing it (not to mention the fact that my brother once bought me an ugly, decorative, oversized diamond from a gas station in indiana), i decided to flex my skills at photoshop instead.  i sent my ladies (well minus my sister who was already maid of honoring it up before steve and i were officially engaged) these awesome greeting cards with their lovely faces stitched onto the bodies of truly the least lucky bridesmaids the fashion world has ever known.

fortunately for me, none of them were too offended!  now that my girls are all signed up for the 2014 wedding-showdown i finally can show everyone my handiwork!  when i went to walgreens to pay for the cards the guy at the photo counter was very excited when i asked for my order.  "i hoped i would be here when the bridesmaid cards got picked up!"

hope everyone is having a happy wednesday!

a little bit of us and stuff

i remember reading a story when i was young about a woman who poured an egg white into a glass of water.  she told four little girls they could see their futures in the swirling movement within the glass.

i wish i could look beyond the thin clear layer to see what will happen in the next few weeks.  or months.

but for now i feel suspended like the egg white.
not floating in the free unknown, but hanging.  surrounded by something that is not the same as me.  distorting myself in attempts to understand what will someday be.

ironically, the four little girls from that story became the spokespeople that drove the antiquated massacre known as the salem witch trials.  their testimony resulted in the deaths of over one hundred people.

i am tired of waiting,
i am tired of worrying.
i am tired of not knowing.

more vacation photos

similar to our first day in charleston, we decided to just try and wing it, and see what the city had in store for us.  we stuffed our bellies with an enormous breakfast and figured we would first try to find the famous "rainbow row." we found a perfect place to street park (one perk of going in the off-season) and trekked along the water of one of charleston's most famous and exclusive waterfront neighborhoods.

check out our new summer home (i wish)!

we found some canons and statues and decided to have a photoshoot.

canon baller.

it was the perfect weather for lots of awkward selfies.

steve made a friend (unfortunately she's an inanimate object).

rainbow row!  porgy and bess anyone?

after we perused the fancy pirate bait homes we made the quick drive out to folly beach.  steve, or at least steve's feet, braved the ocean.  i passed.  despite the lovely sunshine in these pictures it really wasn't THAT warm.  and besides, the last time steve and i went in the ocean together i got blasted in the leg with a nice painful jellyfish.  actually i think technically it was a portuguese man-of-war, but either way it was poopbutts and i wanted nothing to do with that.

folly beach was such a funny little resort town.  it reminded me a bit of my favorite place in the world (maybe), the florida keys.  it officially felt like spring break, though, once we played by the ocean!

at the end of the day we drove out to the national monument of fort sumpter.  we didn't take the boat all the way out to the island, but the view from the little peninsula at the national monument was incredible.  we got a great vantage point for a picture in front of the john c. ravenal bridge.  unfortunately we both look constipated because the sun was pretty extreme in our eyes.  ah well c'est la vie!

in an unpictured highlight we also saw a dolphin bobbing up for air out by the national monument.  i couldn't get a snapshot of him, sadly, but it was a great cherry on top of a perfect day!
